Precision Tank & Equipment Co. (PT&E) broke ground on a 35,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility on a 10-acre site located in Humboldt, Iowa. Headquartered in Virginia, Illinois, PT&E has a 48-year history as an innovative supplier of stainless steel, fiberglass and mild steel tanks for the agriculture industry. This new facility in Humboldt will allow PT&E to expand their geographical footprint in the Corn Belt. This third tank manufacturing plant will mean PT&E has facilities in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa to serve their customers.

David Hemming, President & CEO of PT&E, noted that “We chose to become a manufacturer of fiberglass tanks in 2010 due to their longevity and importance to the agricultural industry. The success of our Ligonier, Indiana facility with fiberglass tanks led us to the decision to make them in Iowa as well. Fiberglass tanks are a great compliment to our long established stainless steel and mild steel tank lines. Our fiberglass winder will be a state of the art, CNC machine featuring helical style (criss-cross) for superior tank strength.”

Hemming commented that, “We plan to add 14 new manufacturing positions at this new facility, with roughly half of the Humboldt plant capacity dedicated to fiberglass tanks and the remainder to building stainless steel tanks. All three plants will build stainless steel tanks, with Humboldt, and Ligonier, Indiana building fiberglass tanks. Mild steel tanks are made at our Virginia, Illinois plant.

In addition to their tank production facilities, PT&E manufactures fertilizer application and nursing equipment at their Athens, Illinois location. The Athens, Illinois facility also stocks and sells a wide variety of agricultural parts to service the ag application and tank business. PT&E also fabricates fire tankers and brush trucks utilized by rural fire districts.

Tank production at the new Humboldt, IA plant is scheduled to begin in Spring 2014.
