Governor Culver Lifts Harvest Weight Limit

Proclamation temporarily allows trucks hauling harvests heavier weights

Governor Chet Culver today signed a proclamation today that temporarily lifts the weight limits of trucks that are hauling harvest goods. Similar to previous years’ proclamations the temporary lift will allow a 10 percent per axle tolerance for weights without requiring the hauler to acquire a permit. Increased weights may begin being hauled today, September 21, and will continue for the duration of 60 days.

The proclamation directs the Iowa Department of Transportation to monitor the temporary lift. The proclamation includes all Iowa roads, but does not include the federal interstate system or posted roads and bridges.
